Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, also known as Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face, is without a doubt one of the world's most popular Catholic saints. Her relics draw great crowds, and Catholics from the world over make pilgrimage en masse to places associated with her life. Saint Thérèse's vision of Catholicism was one of daily charity and prayer, where Jesus was close and approachable, not one of ritual and a distant God that required in-betweens. As a Doctor of the Church, Saint Thérèse's writings have been the topic of discussion for many learned men and women throughout the century that has passed since her death. However, through her heartfelt style of writing and simple message it has also touched a great number of lay Christians, in ways no one could have foreseen during her lifetime.

A Review by Anthony Riggio of Wyatt North's Biography of Saint Therese of LisieuxThis book was obtained on Amazon's Kindle. It was free, as so many of North's biography's of the saints are. The book presented a short view of the Saint's short life, which by any measurement is inspiring for the story of her holy life devoted to her love of Jesus Christ. I am not sure if today is capable of producing a Saint Therese in these both secular and materially distracting world, at least in the Western world. She remains one of the Catholic Churches favorite Saints and I have to admit, I prayed for her help during trying times for me and still carry a prayer card in my wallet to remind me of those trying times in my life and say a prayer of thank you for your help and intercession.
The biography occupied only 50% of the book the remainder were prayers authored by Saint Therese and are both inspiring and a good way to meditate on the simple subjects of her prayers. She was recognized as a "Doctor of the Church" not so much for her theological insights but because of the simplicity of her life and her desire to become a Saint. Her example is certainly a difficult one to imitate but should be an inspiration, especially to young people.
I recommend this book to all but consider its brief presentation. As a consequence, of the reading this book I will read my wife's copy of her autobiography "The Story of a Soul"
My three star rating was based on brevity alone. What is said is very well presented and written.

easy to read .
Seriously, statues of Therese can be found throughout our Diocese of Rochester. Her little way is championed fully in this book. Many details are presented here that can't be found in most of her biographies. She is truly a saint for our time her way is by little steps and even less fanfare. Anyone can follow in her footsteps!
This is excellent. it has a live index so one can go to key items to reread or share. This is a very readable version of the Life of The Little flower. I have read her writings and they can be a challenge so this makes everything much clearer. A very special Saint and this edition is small enough so it makes a good flow of writing and can be completed at one sitting. I definetly recommend this book to my friends.
The author has written a very inspiring story of one who loved Jesus and is a model for each of us to follow.
The Life and Prayers of Saint Therese of Lisieux is another great book from Wyatt North. Two things are especially fascinating to me about Saint Therese. The first is for her to decide at such a young age to become a nun and devote her life to God, which she did in spite of much opposition from church officials at the beginning of her efforts. The second is the profound depth of her writings and poems. For such a young person to display such discipline and ability is truly amazing. It is also interesting that her sisters also became Carmalite nuns.
Quick biography of one of my favorite saints. The format of the book was easy to follow and provided a good base of information. There was a few areas that more in depth information would have made the book more complete. I recommend this book as it gives the reader a enough information on Therese's life to feel like they know what she was all about.
St. Therese is noted as the Saint of "little things" She also is the "Child of Jesus." St. Therese came from a large family in France, Liseiux, and at an early age wanted to become a nun to help with the "little things" brought her way. She wasn't a healthy young lady and died in her 20's from an illness. Her name lives on in churches around the world and my church is named after her.
I loved this book because it was an accurate description of her and her works.
